A free tool to mount ISO image files

Virtual CloneDrive is a free virtual drive that can run almost all common image formats, including ISO, DVD, IMG, and BIN, among others. The program works well on Windows operating systems and can help you view the contents of CDs and DVDs existing in the virtual space. Though the application doesn’t offer a feature to burn disc images, it gives users access to up to 15 drives for simultaneous use.

What is a Virtual CloneDrive?

Nowadays, there are many companies that create virtual CDs and DVDs to give users easy access to their products. These virtual discs often exist as ISO image files that you can download and manually burn to a CD or DVD. However, if you download Virtual CloneDrive on your PC, you don’t need to burn a CD. Instead, you can mount the ISO disc on the tool and start exploring the contents.

Since Virtual CloneDrive lets users create 15 drives, you can run up to 15 disc images at the same time. Moreover, it doesn’t matter if these virtual discs contain audio, photos, or videos. You can run them just as you would any physical CD or DVD. The only discs that you can’t run with the program are the ones that you need to boot, such as a disc containing an operating system.

What does Virtual CloneDrive do?

Virtual CloneDrive is a software program that works like a physical Blu-ray, CD, or DVD drive. However, instead of coming as part of your PC’s hardware, the drive exists virtually and is downloadablewith just a few clicks. Once Virtual CloneDrive installation is complete, you can download virtual CDs or DVDs and run them using this application.

Additionally, Virtual CloneDrive supports almost all common image formats, including ISO, CCD, IMG, BIN, CCD, DVD, UDF, and more. It also comes with many additional features like a virtual eject button, an automount previous image file function, and a history of recently active image files. The software also adds a small logo to all virtual CDs and DVDs so that you can quickly identify virtual disk storage.

Does the app have a simple interface?

Downloading and installing the Virtual Clone app on your PC is quite simple and doesn’t require any advanced technical knowledge. As soon as the download is complete, you come across a window that looks like a setup file but is in fact the software itself. This window is pretty basic and only offers a few features that make mounting and unmounting files an easy task.

Once launched, Virtual CloneDrive for Windows 7 and above asks you to select the language with which you’d like to use the program. It then lets you select the number of drives you wish to create and edit the program’s default settings. You can choose whether you want an I/O that’s already buffered and whether you wish to unmount a file the moment you mount another disc on top.

What type of files does Virtual CloneDrive support?

One of the best parts of Virtual CloneDrive is that it supports almost all image formats, including .iso, .ccd, and .bin. It also extends support to image files like .dvd, .ccd, and .udf, among others. You can run any of these disc images simultaneously in up to 15 drives, and mount or unmount files with just a double click of the mouse.

How do I run an ISO file?

To run an ISO file using Virtual CloneDrive download for Windows 10, you have to mount the file onto the drive and access its contents using File Explorer. Additionally, you can even right-click on a disc image file and select the virtual drive under the Open With option. Doing this will instantly open the file in CloneDrive, and let you explore all its contents.

How do I create an ISO file with Virtual CloneCD?

The Virtual CloneDrive app gives users an option to run ISO files. However, it doesn’t yet support the creation of ISO files. In other words, you can’t burn a virtual CD or DVD using Virtual CloneDrive. The lightweight application only offers a few functions, like eject and auto-mount. The application also keeps a history of the latest image files, which you may have run using the program.

Is Virtual CloneDrive free?

Virtual CloneDrive is a free application and doesn’t offer any in-app purchases or subscriptions. The software has a user-friendly interface and works well on all Windows computers, including Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows 10. Additionally, the software works on both 32- and 64-bit operating systems and doesn’t have a complicated setup process.

Are there any alternatives?

MagicDisc is a virtual drive emulator that offers similar features as the CloneDVD app. However, if you want a comprehensive solution that not only runs but also lets you burn ISO files, you should check out Daemon Tools Lite and WinCDEmu. In case you want a tool that lets you run 20 drives at once, you should check out ISODisk

Should I download Virtual CloneDrive?

Virtual CloneDrive is a straightforward utility tool that seamlessly integrates with your device and gives you an option to mount disc image files. The program is free to download and use. Once the drives are ready, you can use them to run multiple virtual discs all at once. The software is easy-to-download and features a user-friendly interface.

Moreover, it supports almost all common image formats and offers in-built functionalities like eject, auto-mount, and recent files reload. Considering these features, Virtual CloneDrive is a must-have tool for anyone who downloads and runs virtual CDs and DVDs regularly. The only function missing is that the program doesn’t let users burn virtual disc images, a feature readily available in other similar programs.
